About Chef Jose Metellus
Born on the beautiful island of Haiti, Chef Jose Metellus developed a deep love for cooking from an early age, inspired by the rich flavors of his grandmother’s homemade meals. Though traditionally, only the women in his family cooked, his passion for the kitchen was undeniable.
After moving to the United States, Chef Jose embraced his culinary creativity, reimagining classic Caribbean dishes with his own unique twist. His talent quickly gained recognition, turning his home into a gathering place for friends and neighbors who couldn’t get enough of his flavorful creations.
His professional journey began in the restaurant industry, where he worked his way up from a dishwasher to a head chef in record time, mastering techniques and refining his skills along the way. He later formalized his training at Atlantic Technical College, earning his culinary credentials and deepening his expertise.
Driven by his love for Caribbean cuisine and a desire to share its richness on a grander scale, Chef Jose founded Island Palate Catering & Event Production. Through his business, he blends the warmth of traditional island cooking with the elegance of fine dining, crafting unforgettable culinary experiences.
A dedicated competitor and member of the American Culinary Federation, Chef Jose has showcased his skills in numerous culinary competitions, winning 1st Place at the 2019 Taste of Haiti competition. His mission is simple yet powerful—to bring people together through the art of food, one dish at a time.
